December Presidents Letter
12/29/11
To All PBYFL Families,
I would like to extend the 2011 PBYFL
Board season greetings to all. We wish everyone a great Holiday and Happy New Year! As
Presidents I wanted to keep everyone informed of all that is going on with the PBYFL league.
The first order of business is the work bond. We would
like to thank all families who achieved the 8 hours of volunteer time and earned the $75 work bond return. We will have a
list posted on our web site in the near future that will show all who are entitled to the work bond returned. As you know
we had a work sheet in place, your volunteer hours should have been completed and signed off, and the sheet returned to Dawn
Velasquez. If for any reason you think you should be on that list and are not please reach out to your Head Coach or Committee
Leader that you worked your hours with to get that corrected. The last point is if you would like a return check cut to the
person who paid the work bond please send an e-mail to Dawn our Treasurer asking for the return. Anyone who does not ask for
a return, we will apply their work bond money to the 2012 season as a roll over work bond. This will make your 2012 payment
that much less at the time of registration.
I would like to take this opportunity to announce that I have decided not to run for PBYFL President in 2012. I have
been on the PBYFL Board for 6 years now and have decided that it is now time to pass the torch to the next President. I will
still be around to help where I can, but the day to day operation will be done by the 2012 PBYFL Board. Six years seem like
a long time, but they flew by very fast. When I was elected Vice President 6 years ago working with KC Gross (President).
I saw that KC was working very hard to make the PBYFL a respectable football town in the OCYFL league. We started to look
for ways to make us a more competitive football program every year in all divisions. Integrity, commitment, honesty, and hardworking
were words we were looking for people to think of when talking about Pine Bush Football. It was clear the direction KC started
we were going to follow and take it to the next level.
As President my goal was to develop a top quality
feeder program for the High School football team. Our Head of Coaches Bob Martinelli and I made every effort to make sure
PBYFL had a good working relationship with the High School. We ran clinics for coaches, and combined fundraiser together.
Two Board members have served with me the entire time I have been President Bob Martinelli and Dawn Velasquez in multiple
Board positions. Bob and Dawn were a big reason why PBYFL has reached new heights and has been successful.
The PBYFL Board in 2012 were all elected unopposed they will start their terms on January 1st 2012. I want
to wish then the best of luck and support them in the running of PBYFL affairs. The departing members are Bob Martinelli,
Mike Voss and I. Listed below is your 2012 PBYFL Board members;
President – Pete Andre
Vice President – Dave DeGroodt
Secretary – Cliff Potts
Treasurer – Dawn Velasquez
Head of Coaches – Kevin Holland
Head
of Cheerleading - Jeannine Thompson
Equipment
Manager - Chad Kamm
Below are many of the accomplishments we have achieved together as a league during my tenure on the PBYFL Board.
1) Electric to
the Concession stand at the home field
2) Scoreboard at the home field
3) Established Draft rules
4) Top Notch
Sound system for home games
5)
Selected as a host site for scrimmage day
6) Paint machine for lining field
7) Names on Jersey
and Cheerleading uniform to keep
8)
Two Jerseys to avoid conflicting colors of other team
9) End Zone Camera system
10) 1st ever appearance of
a Pine Bush team in the OCYFL Super Bowl
11) Two (2) Super Bowl Winners D2 and D3 with a total of 4 appearances
in last 4 years
12) Two (2) Mighty Mite Turkey bowl winners and one Mighty Bowl winner
13) Combine Performance
day with equipment handout
14)
Pancake Breakfast for Community Fundraiser
15) Not for Profit status 503C
We can look at this list and see how much the league has evolved over the last 6 years. Many of these listed above
are real big issues and hopefully it makes a big difference in our kids lives. A few areas that I feel were the biggest are
the Super Bowl appearances I have to thank Bob for the time and effort he put into to correcting many of the coaching issues
which stopped us from make the Championship each year. But also the 503C Pete Andre was the first person who actually made
this a reality for us. Many others have tried before him and failed, but this year Pete took the bull by the horn and would
not let go until that was completed.
Any
successful organization needs a good support system and steady stream of income. I wanted to thank my wife Meg who ran the
Concession stand for 5 years and Luisa Martinelli who was the Fundraiser leader for 2 years. These two areas supply almost
50% of the money used to run the league, with out these two lovely ladies PBYFL would not have accomplished many of the successes
listed above. They sacrificed time and their home life to make PBYFL a success, while both worked full time jobs.
These two women deserve a great deal of credit.
In closing for 2011 we had another
successful year. Some teams won more the others, but many kids learned the game of Football and Cheerleading, and many kids
learned the life lessons that youth sports are a great teacher of. Again, I wanted to thank all the Board
members, Coaches and Volunteers, as we could not have done it with out everyone working together. A special thanks goes out
to my wife Meg, as she gave up many hours not only her time volunteering but my time with her, and my kids Mitch, Meredith,
Matthew, and Mark all of who have always helped out in the many jobs I have done to keep the league running well.
Sincerely,
Ron Przybocki
PBYFL President
